What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme is a way of supporting you by giving you the support you need to achieve your goals and live the life you choose. The NDIS enables you to access supports and to make decisions about who will provide those supports to you and how they will be provided.
What does the NDIS Cover?
The NDIS funds the things that you need to help support you to:
- achieve your goals
- increase your independence
- increase your participation in the community, and
- stay connected in the community
The NDIS calls these things “reasonable and necessary” – that means they are important for you to be able to live your life.
NDIS Eligibility
To be eligible for the NDIS, you need to be:
- under 65 years of age when you make your application
- have a significant and/or permanent disability
- be an Australian Citizen or resident or permanent visa holder.

My Pre-Planning Booklet
Community Access and Services SA have designed a My Pre-planning booklet to help you work out your goals. You can access this booklet here or we can provide you with one when we meet with you. Your My Pre-planning Booklet helps you to think about your goals and support needs before you meet with your NDIA Planner.
By using the booklet, you can begin to think about what is important to you, what your life currently looks like now and how you would like your life to be.
We can meet with you in person to talk about your needs and goals. You can bring a friend or support person to the meeting if you want to.
We can go with you to your NDIS planning meeting if you’d like us to.
After your plan is approved by the NDIS, we can meet with you and provide you with a quote for your supports.
If you choose Community Access and Services SA as your service provider, we will offer you a Service Agreement. This is a document that explains all the services you will receive. We use this to make sure our service is meeting your needs.
